TitleOnline Welding Deviation Detection and Burn-through Identification of Yolov5 Sheet Lap MIG Welding Based on Passive Vision

AbstractMonitoring of weld quality has been a challenge for industry because it is inherently a dynamic, non-linear process. However, the traditional post-weld quality detection methods have been difficult to meet the rapid development needs of industrial manufacturing. Therefore, on-line monitoring of welding process is very important to the development of modern manufacturing industry. Limited by the thickness of the sheet, it is very easy to induce a series of defects during the lap welding of the sheet when using MIG welding. To overcome this limitation, this paper builds a software and hardware monitoring system combining passive vision technology and the yolov5 algorithm. Firstly, a MIG welding pool image vision system that can filter out strong arc light interference is designed. Secondly, a new method for characterizing weld bias is proposed. Finally, validation experiments were conducted to verify the reliability of the system. In the industrial field environment, the welding pool monitoring system can achieve more than 50 frames/s online detection state. At the same time, the data recorded in the background of the software can provide some guidance for the subsequent upgrading of the model and the planning of the welding process.
